Why is learning English important to you?
It opens the gates to the world. I mean, you're going to be able to communicate with billions of
people around the world.
Why did you come to Plymouth, and not another city like London?
It's a nice city, and it's not as big as London, therefore you won't find yourself surrounded with a lot
of students from the same country.
Every year students from 40+ different countries study at Mayflower College.
The greatest compliment we can receive is if a student returns to Mayflower College or recommends us to
friends, family or colleagues.
Here is a sample of what our students think:
What do you think about the people at Mayflower College?
Very nice, kind, lovely, welcoming!
Do you think that your English is improving here? How do we help with that?
I hope so - but I think just one month is not enough to improve it - I think I need more lessons. There are students from many different
countries, so sometimes it is hard to understand them, and they have problems to understand my accent! But, it is good practice for us.
What would you say to someone who was thinking of coming here?
Good idea! Excellent! Go and make the best!

Why did you come to Plymouth, and not another city like London?
Places like Plymouth give you freedom such as the ability to have really social way of life. Big cities like London put a lot of hindrances on their
dwellers, such as the need to spend hours travelling to and from.
What do you like about Plymouth?
Plymouth reminds me of my own town where I grew up. The city is very pedestrian accessible with big walking areas, parks and lots of social
places.
What do you think about the people at Mayflower College?
People at Mayflower College have built up confidence over the years, to become experts who can interact with and provoke students to build
their skills up.
Do you think that your English is improving here? How do we help with that?
Yes, my English is improving, as the topics are not nailed to a specific textbook and everyone can contribute in class to the whole topic.
What would you say to someone who was thinking of coming here?
Attending a course here will bring you benefits. You be able to widen your point of view from other people’s experiences.
Daniel - Bulgaria
Why is learning English important to you?
I’m an Air Traffic Controller and now we are now part of a functional airspace block, which requires us to be
able to communicate freely in English with other ATCs in other countries.
Why did you come to Plymouth and not another city like London?
It was a random choice. I was preparing for the IELTS exam and decided that the best to feel the real language is Great Britain. I heard about
Plymouth as place wherefrom were started cities like New Plymouth (USA) and Sydney (Australia). I found there Mayflower College, read some
feedbacks and watched some photos. After that, I was absolutely sure about my journey.
What do you like about Plymouth?
I have no anything to dislike about Plymouth. I really took a fancy to Plymouth, an English culture, lifestyle, environment and food. Also all
people are very friendly and every time you can find a smile on their faces. I wish that one day I came back to Great Britain (and maybe to
Plymouth) but not for a long time.
Did you take part in any excursions organised by the College? How were they?
It was an excursion to Saltram House. It was one of the most amazing and beautiful places I have ever seen. Quiet and peacefulness were filling
everywhere. It is a definitely good idea to organise excursions every Saturday.
What do you think about the people at Mayflower College?
I think Mayflower College is another world. All my time was like a dream. Moreover, people in Mayflower College create this feeling all time. It
was very exciting journey to a fairy tale of English. Furthermore, for me is still remains a mystery how this dream can provide such excellent
improving in English.
Do you think that your English improved here? How do we help with that?
Definitely yes! I really got a sense of freedom in listening, writing and speaking. This experience has given me abilities to understand and keep
the conversation with native speakers and also abilities to describe my mind in a paper in a more appropriative and suitable form.
What would you say to someone who was thinking of coming here?
If you really want:
to undertand and start speaking with native language people;
to improve your English;
to see one of the best city of Great Britain near the sea;
to feel native English culture;
to spend amazing time,
.... your choice must be Mayflower College.
I want to say thank you very to Mayflower College again and to all people at Mayflower College.

Why is learning English important to you?
I am an undergraduate student at the moment and I study Linguistics. I specialise in English and French, which means
that not only do I need to operate two foreign languages not at a superficial level but professionally and structurally.
Besides, I have always been interested in interacting with people from all over the world, reading picturesque English
pieces of writing and being able to understand lyrics of English songs. Now I have English-speaking friends from
more than 30 countries in the world, reading English books is my favourite way of spending my leisure hours and
I can honestly say that thanks to the Mayflower College have I achieved my desired level of English.
Why did you come to Plymouth, and not another city like London?
It was my first English teacher who advised me to come to Plymouth in the first place. After my first visit to Plymouth I realised that there is no
other place which offers so many advantages to students, which is why I came back so many times.
What do you like about Plymouth?
As I was born and bred in Moscow, which is a large urban agglomeration, I have always strived to spend as much time out in the nature as I
could. When coming to Plymouth, I wanted to get away from hustle and bustle of the big city and enjoy a quiet stay in a small and cozy town
where people are friendly and the rhythm of life is not as crazy as where I live. Plymouth is the best choice I could have ever done. It lies near
the ocean, which means that the opportunity to enjoy dazzling sunrises and sunsets near the waterfront was too good to be missed. Besides,
Plymouth is surrounded by majestic historical monuments, national parks and awe-inspiring landmarks to check out, such as Dartmoor, the
Land's End and Mount Edgcombe. Last but not least, Plymouthians are friendly, helpful and very kindhearted people, who are always happy
to help foreigners or just to have a small talk.
What do you think about the people at Mayflower College?
Without exception, all the people I met at Mayflower College are competent professionals, who tried their best to arrange the educational
process so that every student could meet their expectations and interests. The staff never leaves any of your requested unnoticed and does
everything to keep students happy. What concerns the English classes, I am convinced that all the teachers at Mayflower College are a little bit
magicians. They manage to make students memorise new information, such as grammar rules, vocabulary or idioms so easily that sometimes
it seems like they just put the necessary information in students’ minds! I took various English courses in Mayflower College four times, and
every time I couldn't help being surprised at teachers’ professionalism. It was also the pleasure to work as a part of a team during English
classes. Thanks to Mayflower I acquired a wide network of friends from all over the world. We maintain contact on a regular basis, send cards
and parcels and even meet up when we have a chance.
Do you think your English improved in Plymouth?
Absolutely. I don't think I can find any words to describe how much my stays in Plymouth influenced not only my English but life in general. It
was after my first stay in Plymouth when I was inspired by sophistication and complexity of English language and that's when I made a
decision to study Linguistics for my Bachelor's degree. My next visits to Mayflower College helped me to learn how to communicate in English
with competence and confidence. It is also here that I built a new dream. I decided to take the next step up my career ladder and do my
Master's degree in English abroad. Having taken the IELTS preparation course at Mayflower College, I managed to get 7.5 score, thus I was
provided with ample opportunity to apply for a plenty of postgraduate programmes taught in English. Now I am ready to continue my
education abroad, perhaps even in the UK.
What would you say to someone who was thinking of coming here?
I say there is no point of contemplating. If you have a chance, it is worth just booking your place and flight and coming. As we say it in
Russian, it is better to see something once, than to hear about it a thousand times. I am convinced that that is definitely the case when this
saying works.

Why is learning English important to you?
It is generally believed that English opens doors to new world opportunities. In fact, knowledge of English language
can provide conversation with people from almost all countries of the world. Now I want to get an international
experience in engineering field and good knowledge of English is the most necessary requirement to do it.
