Mark Nowaczyk - Teacher
Mark studied Drama and English at Hull University, later
becoming a journalist before moving into teaching. He
has taught in the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Saudi
Arabia and Oman (where he was an IELTS examiner and a
naval officer) and also set up a language school in Iraqi
Kurdistan. He loves intensive language courses, especially
business English and aviation English. He enjoys racquet
sports, real ale and Tottenham Hotspur…oh, and singing,
as he’s Welsh!
Aaron Dillon - IELTS Manager
Aaron studied Environmental Policy at the University of
Gloucestershire. He started teaching English in 2005
and has taught in England and South Korea and also
worked for the British Council in France as an IELTS
Test Day Manager. He enjoys cycling and playing
football and is a keen Plymouth Argyle fan.
Adam Hearn
Adam graduated from the University of the West of
England and has been employed by Mayflower College
since 2011. He has considerable experience in various
roles including teaching general English, aviation English,
IELTS and TEA preparation courses. As a senior TEA
examiner, Adam has also been an IELTS examiner and
senior IELTS invigilator. Adam has also assisted in the
preparation of TEA test content. Adam enjoys travelling,
enjoying the natural beauty of Devon with his family and
supporting Bristol City FC.

Naomi Cousans - Student Services
Naomi is a graduate of Bournemouth University where
she completed a degree in Tourism Management.
Since graduating she has worked for both small and
large tour operators in Bournemouth but has decided
to move back to her home town of Plymouth.
Naomi enjoys travelling, shopping, eating out and
socialising.
Melanie Gardner - IELTS Examiner Trainer
Mel is a graduate from Plymouth University. She has
taught in Spain and Mexico. She gained her diploma in
English Language teaching in 2006 and is an IELTS
examiner. She has two lively dogs called Chelsea and
Lucy and loves walking, travelling and eating out.
Paul Stevens - Managing Director &
owner
Paul is a graduate of Cambridge University
and worked for several years in the Middle
East before starting the Mayflower College in
1989. He currently lives in USA with his wife
and 2 sons. Paul is a keen rugby fan.
Jill Tyler - General Manager
Jill is responsible for all non-academic aspects of
the school. She graduated with a BA Hons in
Business Studies from the University of
Plymouth, completed a Cert TESOL and Diploma
in ELT Management (DELTM).
She has travelled around the world (including
visits to Africa, Australia, Asia (Thailand,
Malaysia and Indonesia), India, NZ and USA).
Her favourite pastimes are yoga, boot camp and
eating!
Steve Voysey - Director of Studies
Steve is a graduate in French, German and Politics (and
enjoys talking about politics!). He has taught in Austria,
Germany and the UK. He also spent several months
working on a goat farm in France! Steve has a passion for
learning languages as well as teaching them and is trying
to improve his Spanish. He is a TEA rater and interlocutor.
In his free time he enjoys travelling, cooking, swimming,
cycling, driving and dog walking and also trying to keep
(relatively) fit.
Magda Kwiatkowska - TEA
Administration Manager
Magda graduated in Tourism from the
University of Poznan (Poland) and has been
working at Mayflower College for seven years.
She enjoys learning about British culture and
loves the weather in Plymouth (not really!). She
has recently returned from a sunny back-
packing trip to Mexico and Guatemala.
Teaching
Liz Bell - Teacher
Liz has a passion for supporting students of all ages
to achieve their personal and professional
language goals. She teaches General English,
English for Aviation and IELTS preparation courses.
As well as teaching English, Liz is a career coach
and loves to share the secrets of Plymouth's history
with all who visit Mayflower College.

Lee Higgins - TEA Manager
Lee has been teaching English since 1994 and joined
Mayflower College in 2001. Since 2004 he has
worked in aviation English as a teacher of aviation
English, ICAO language proficiency examiner,
teacher trainer and examiner trainer, Currently he is
responsible for all aspects of TEA and oversees our
test centre operations in more than 20 countries
around the world. Lee lives in a small hamlet in a
rural location with his wife Jo. They enjoy the
countryside, looking after their gardens and their 5
chickens.
