FACTS OF THE WEEK
Sudan has more pyramids than any country in
the world. Sudan has around 255 pyramids
while Egypt has 138.
The last letter added to the English alphabet
was 'J'. The letter dates back to 1524.
'Ultracrepidarian’ is a word to describe
someone who gives an opinion on something
they know nothing about.
If our veins, arteries, and capillaries were laid
out flat, they would stretch for more than
60,000 miles.
GOOD WEEK FOR:
Laughter being the best medicine, as the UK’s public
health service agrees to prescribe free stand-up
comedy classes to men at risk of suicide. Research
shows that humour is one of the most innate ways
human beings process trauma.

This week, Plymouth’s new multi-million pound museum ‘The Box’ celebrated International Museum
Day, raising awareness of how museums can bring about positive change in communities. During
the Covid-19 pandemic ‘The Box on the Box’ live-streamed digital sessions to tackle isolation,
providing activities for young and old including people in hospital.
As usual, we have been looking through the British media this week and here are some of the
stranger stories we found:

Have a lovely week.
Couples with pets, as almost 25% of people
surveyed admit that they prefer their pet to
their partner; 66% claim their pet is their closest
companion and 20% claimed their pet
understood them better than partner ever
could!
BAD WEEK FOR:
Sea turtles. Scientists fitted 22 turtles with GPS
trackers to see how they found their way home
after mating and breeding. The turtles seem
to have a bad sense of direction. One turtle
went 812 miles to find an island that was just
109 miles away.
Proving the British really are a little eccentric, as a
free pop-up corgi photo studio opens in London to
mark the Queen’s Jubilee. The Queen has owned
corgis since she was 18 and refers to them as part
of the ‘family’. Royalists and dog fans can now
pose for pictures with real corgis in a pop-up photo
studio.
