PART 3A:

Now we’re going to talk about some recordings of maritime communications. Please read the task card with me now. Task Card 3A  (handed to candidate)  
TASK CARD 3A You will hear 8 recordings. After each recording, please tell me the following: 1. What the message was 2. What type of communication it was and why:    On-Board    Ship to Ship     Ship to Shore    Shore to Ship There is no correct answer. In some cases, more than 1 answer may be possible. You should explain your answers fully. You will have 20 seconds to respond. If you need to hear a recording again, please ask.

Now you’ll hear 3 speakers describing situations on-board ship. Please turn over the task card and read with me now.  
TASK CARD 3B You're going to hear speakers talk about problems on-board ship. You will hear 3 different situations. You will hear each recording 2 times. Tell me about the following: 1.  where the problem was 2.  what the problem was 3.  what action was taken You should explain your answers fully. You will have 30 seconds to respond.
