This course is targeted at staff employed in University International Offices and those involved in coordinating Erasmus projects.

The course aims to consolidate and develop the specific English language skills necessary for carrying out this work.

A thematic approach has been taken in the development of the course curriculum. This includes the language of:

• Education
• Travel
• Telephoning
• Finance / Insurance
• Law / contracts
• Negotiation
• Sales / Marketing
• Giving presentations
• Technology
• Ethnic minorities / special needs
• Work
• Cultural awareness / stereotypes

The two-week course contains 50 hours tuition.

Educational Visit:
As part of the programme a visit will be organised to an International Office in a local institute of Higher Education in Plymouth.

Accommodation:
Each person attending the course will stay with a host family selected by the Mayflower College. The host family will offer a single room and breakfast and evening meal from Monday to Friday and breakfast, packed lunch and dinner at the weekends. Alternatively, accommodation can be provided in local hotels within walking distance of the seafront, city-centre and Mayflower College - prices begin at about £30 per person per night for a single, en-suite room including breakfast.

Saturday excursions:
Excursions will be offered on Saturday to surrounding areas of interest / beauty.

The balance of the fees (the total fees less the deposit) should be paid at least one month before the course is due to begin.
