Why Plymouth?
Plymouth is a city of history, beauty and pleasure combining the old with the new. In 1620 the Pilgrim Fathers chose Plymouth as the starting point of their historic voyage to Massachusetts, North America in a ship called "The Mayflower". Now, Plymouth is a modern city of 275,000 inhabitants offering a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants, theatres, sports facilities, etc. The surrounding countryside of Dartmoor and Cornwall is some of the most spectacular and naturally beautiful in Britain. It is of no surprise that in recent years Plymouth has been voted "Britain's Most Desirable City". Plymouth's size means that it has a great deal to offer while managing to avoid many of the social problems found in some of England's larger cities. In addition, there are very few language schools in Plymouth. This means that unlike Bournemouth, Brighton, London, Oxford, Cambridge, etc. you will not find many other foreign students in Plymouth. Consequently, you will have far more opportunity to speak English and far less temptation to speak your own language.
